Right to Dream celebrates Caleb Yirenkyi’s Coventry move

Right to Dream have congratulated Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi on his move to Coventry City, reflecting on the remarkable journey that has taken him from the academy at the age of nine to the Premier League.

Yirenkyi, 20, completed his move to Coventry from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland after emerging as one of Ghana’s most promising young midfielders.

For Right to Dream, the transfer represents more than another successful move for one of its graduates. It is the latest chapter in a journey that began when Yirenkyi joined the Ghanaian academy as a nine-year-old.

“Every step prepared him for the next,” Right to Dream said in a message celebrating the midfielder.

“At 9, Caleb Yirenkyi arrived at Right to Dream with a dream.

“That dream led him to FC Nordsjælland. Then came the Black Stars. Then the FIFA World Cup. Now, it takes him to Coventry City.

“Congratulations, Caleb. Keep writing your story.”

Caleb Yirenkyi’s rise

After developing at Right to Dream, he moved to Nordsjaelland in January 2024 after turning 18. He quickly established himself in Denmark, making 67 competitive appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing 15 assists.

His performances earned him recognition in the Danish Superliga Team of the Season and helped attract interest from some of Europe’s leading clubs.

His breakthrough on the international stage came at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he became one of Ghana’s standout young players.

Yirenkyi scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Panama, becoming the youngest player to score for the Black Stars at a World Cup.

That moment further increased his profile, with clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly showing interest.

But the midfielder has opted for a move to Coventry, where he will continue his development in the Premier League.

The transfer also marks another milestone for Right to Dream, whose academy has helped provide a pathway for young Ghanaian talents to reach the highest levels of football.

Yirenkyi’s story now moves into a new chapter.

From a nine-year-old boy arriving at Right to Dream with a dream, to representing Ghana at a World Cup and securing a move to the Premier League, his journey reflects the long-term development pathway the academy strives to create.

And as Right to Dream put it: every step prepared him for the next.

Now, Yirenkyi has another step to take.
