Ghana’s Kelvin Lamptey-Mills join Spanish outfit

Ghanaian Youth team player Kelvin Lamptey-Mills has made another career developing move after completing a joyful move to Spain.

The young talented defender on Monday signed a deal with Spanish outfit FC Cartagena after having a short spell in Greece. Lamptey-Mills switched from Greece to Spain as a free agent after declining a new contract when his stint with Kampaniakos ended.

The former Ghana U-20 center-back had a stupendous spell with Kampaniakos, where he became an integral member of the side during his time but opted for a new career challenge following the elapse of 2025/26 season.

Lamptey-Mills who has already shown prospect of a top tier defender, inked a two year contract with FC Cartagena with a year option.

According to the club head coach, Iñigo Vélez, Kelvin Lamptey-Mills has a huge talent capable of storming elite football in the coming years. FC Cartagena who suffered relegation to third division of Spanish football in 2025 April after five years stay in second division has priority set on making a return, hence acquisition of some experienced players including the Ghanaian.

The Ghanaian defender who has earned his maiden call-up to Ghana U23 team, signing is aimed at strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.

Lamptey-Mills has vast experience playing in abroad having had stints in the Major League Soccer, with Meap Nisou and Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus as well as Kampaniakos in Greece.
