The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has assured businesses and taxpayers that it is taking measures to ensure the continued delivery of critical tax and customs services despite the heavy rains affecting parts of Accra and other areas of the country.

In a statement, the Authority acknowledged that the persistent rainfall, with more downpours forecast in the coming days, could disrupt transportation, delay the movement of goods and affect normal business operations.

According to the GRA, the severe weather may also place additional pressure on businesses as they work to meet customer demands and comply with their tax and regulatory obligations.

To reduce the impact of the adverse weather, the Authority said its teams at ports, border posts and Taxpayer Service Centres (TSCs) nationwide have implemented contingency measures to keep both Customs and Domestic Tax services operational.

The GRA said the measures are intended to facilitate legitimate trade, minimise avoidable disruptions and ensure taxpayers continue to receive essential services as efficiently as possible.

It encouraged businesses to plan ahead, make greater use of its digital platforms where possible and factor potential transportation delays into their operational plans.

The Authority also urged employers to prioritise the safety and well-being of their employees, stressing that protecting lives should remain the foremost priority during the ongoing rains.

The GRA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the business community while ensuring the uninterrupted collection of revenue needed to finance national development.

It further wished taxpayers a safe week and advised the public to adhere to safety directives issued by the relevant weather and emergency response agencies as heavy rains continue to affect parts of the country.
