I’m very satisfied with my vetting- Bawumia

Presidential hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of his vetting on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, following his appearance before the party’s vetting committee at its headquarters in Accra.

Speaking to journalists after the session, Dr. Bawumia said he was pleased with how the process unfolded, adding that he hoped the vetting committee shared the same view.

“They’ve asked many questions, and I have answered those questions, so I’m very satisfied with my vetting, and I pray that everything is okay. I hope the committee is as satisfied as I am,” he said, adding that he believes the process maintained the standards expected of such a high-stakes internal party exercise.”

Dr. Bawumia is one of five aspirants undergoing the vetting process, which is part of the NPP’s preparation for its upcoming presidential primary. Other candidates include Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyepong.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, another contender for the NPP flagbearer slot, also shared his positive impression of the vetting process. After his own appearance before the vetting committee, Mr. Agyapong expressed confidence in his readiness to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.

“I was prepared. I believe I answered all the questions and they know I’m ready to be president of this country,” he stated, adding that the committee was particularly interested in his vision for Ghana and his motivation to seek the presidency.

Both candidates are vying for the NPP’s presidential ticket in what is expected to be a highly competitive race.
