Former Black Stars striker Prince Tagoe says that it is too early to invite AS Roma starlet Felix Afena-Gyan to the Black Stars.

Black Stars gaffer Milovan Rajevac handed the 18 year old striker his maiden call up to the senior men’s national team on Thursday ahead of the two World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.

A cross section of Ghanaian has been excited about the youngster’s opportunity but Prince Tagoe is not happy as he feels Ghana must allow the youngster find his feet first at Roma before the Black Stars call up.

According to Tagoe, the early invitation can curtail the player’s development and must be allowed to establish a place for himself at Roma.

“Felix is a good lad obviously but we should not rush him.

“This is not a friendly match but crucial World Cup qualifiers. Just a small issue can destabilise him,” the former Black Stars striker told Angel TV prior to the call-up today.

Prince Tagoe added, “Let’s leave him to find his feet at Roma. We can invite him later.”

He has scored six goals in five matches in the Primavera divisions in Italy but is yet to score for the Roma senior side.
