Mahama vows to transform Papao farms into centre of excellence
President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to provide full government support to transform Papao Farms into a centre of excellence for agricultural production, training, and research.
During a visit to the poultry farm in Accra on Friday, September 12, the President commended the dedication of National Service personnel and volunteers working on the project, assuring them of his administration’s continued backing.
“I promise to help you develop this poultry farm into a center of excellence. It will be both a producing farm, it will also be a training farm, and it will be a research farm,” he said.
He revealed that discussions had already been held with the Minister of Finance regarding the farm’s future, and he intends to bring the Minister to the site for a firsthand assessment.
“He’s out of the country at the moment but as soon as he lands at the airport I’m going to march him to this farm to come and see the good work you’re doing here so that when we send our requests to him for the processing plants, the hostel, the vehicles, the solar power plants to boost electric supply, he won’t hesitate in releasing the funds,” he said.
Underscoring his commitment to youth empowerment and agricultural innovation, President Mahama emphasized that Papao Farms could serve as a model project for the West African sub-region.
“So my brothers and sisters, you can be sure we will support you all the way. We will make this a model farm so that people will come from other West African countries to come and study what National Service personnel of Ghana and volunteers have done here in Papao,” he added.
