NDC announces 2026 internal election timetable ahead of 2028 campaign

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the timetable for its 2026 Constituency, Regional and National Executive Elections, with the internal polls set to begin at constituency level in September.

The party’s roadmap covers the full electoral process, including the opening and filing of nominations, vetting, appeals, balloting and elections at constituency, regional and national level.

The timetable was released in a press statement signed by Madam Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, Deputy General Secretary, and dated Tuesday, August 5, 2026. The statement said the Functional Executive Committee (FEC), at a meeting on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, directed that the schedule be made public.

According to the NDC, the timetable is intended to provide a clear framework for the organisation of its internal elections and ensure that each stage is conducted in line with the party’s Constitution and approved Election Guidelines.

“The release of this timetable reaffirms the Party’s commitment to conducting transparent, credible, and well-organized internal elections in accordance with the Constitution of the National Democratic Congress and the approved Election Guidelines,” the statement said.

The party has urged all Regional and Constituency Executives, aspirants and members to study the schedule carefully and comply with the stated procedures, deadlines and timelines.

Constituency elections

The opening of nominations at constituency level will take place from Tuesday 15th to Thursday 17th September 2026. Applications will be submitted online through `http://forms.ghanandc.com`.

Candidates will file their nominations on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th September, followed by vetting from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th September.

The appeals window will run from Tuesday 29th September to Thursday 1st October. Constituency elections are scheduled for Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October 2026.

Regional elections

At regional level, nominations will open from Tuesday 6th to Wednesday 7th October 2026. Filing will then take place on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th October.

Vetting is scheduled for Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October, while appeals will be heard from Monday 19th to Tuesday 20th October.

The Regional Youth and Women Conference will be held on Friday 13th November 2026. Regional elections will follow on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November.

National elections

The national phase will begin with the opening of nominations on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st October 2026. Candidates will file their nominations from Saturday 7th to Monday 9th November.

National vetting is due to take place on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th November, with appeals scheduled for Sunday 15th and Monday 16th November.

The National Youth and Women Conference will be held on Saturday 12th December 2026, before the National Congress/Elections on Saturday 19th December 2026.

The NDC said all nominations would be completed online via `forms.ghanandc.com`, with hard copies to be submitted at the relevant Constituency, Regional or National offices.

The party also thanked its members for their continued dedication and said it remained confident that “the spirit of unity and collective purpose that has characterized our reorganization process will continue to strengthen the Party as we prepare to secure an emphatic victory in the 2028 General Elections.”
