An open letter signed by Lawra Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress has been sent to sitting Member Of parliament for Lawra  Hon. Samson Abu, requesting  "the immediate return of the party's van."


Honorable Samson Abu has decided to contested the lawra  Parliamentary seat as an independent candidate after losing Bede Ziedeng in the party's primaries, a move considered to be in a breach of articles 8(d, f); 45(a, b, c &e) and 46(10) of the party’s constitution.

The letter signed by the constituency secretary Joshua Lotaa is asking Hon Samson Abu to, in accordance to the party's constitution, return the van as he is no more a member of the party.

"We request the immediate return of the party's van with registration no.GB2786-12 which has been in your custody since November 2012. The vehicle should be returned to the constituency Chairman," the letter said.

The NDC on November 1, 2016,  dismissed 23 members of the party for contesting as independent candidates.

A statement, signed by the party's general secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketsia, says: "The affected persons by their conduct and on their own volition have ceased to be members of the party."

 "All such persons are barred from the use of the party’s paraphernalia, or the use of names of key party officials, including the party’s presidential candidate in their campaigns or political activities,"

The statement further says: "Also, the Party by article 46(10) of its constitution orders all such persons to return all party property ( including vehicles) in their possession."

Sitttin MP Samson Abu and Pharauk Bandanaa (Wa West) happened to among those who have opted to contest the December election as independent candidates and hence found their names   among the 23 people dismissed.
