Ghana defender Razak Simpson has paid an emotional tribute to Nations FC after completing a move to Finnish top-flight club Vaasa Palloseura (VPS).

The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Veikkausliiga side, ending a successful spell at Nations FC, where he developed into one of the Ghana Premier League’s most consistent defenders and earned international recognition with the Black Stars.

In a message posted on social media, Simpson described Nations FC as his “home” and thanked the club for helping shape his career.

“First of all, I give thanks to God Almighty. This is your boy Simpson. I just wanted to say Nations was my home and still it is,” he wrote.

“You opened your doors for me to become who I am today and no words can describe these feelings.”

Simpson said he would always value the time he spent at the club, adding that he gave his all for the shirt in every competition.

“I enjoyed every game and every tournament, and I defended these colours above all, win, draw or lose,” he said.

“Most importantly, I learned every day the values that this club represents.”

The defender also thanked his former team-mates, coaches, medical staff, club officials and supporters, while giving special recognition to Nations FC owner Dr Kwame Kyei.

“These past years, I met a lot of amazing people, team-mates who became brothers, coaches, physios, cooks, press staff, directors and the amazing supporters,” Simpson said.

“Special thanks to Dr Kwame Kyei.”

Simpson’s rise at Nations FC also helped him achieve his ambition of representing Ghana at international level.

Simpson now begins a new chapter in Finland, but says he will leave Nations FC with lasting memories.

“Now it is time to say goodbye. It has been a dream to defend these colours,” he added.

“Thank you for everything, Nations FC. Thank you for everything, Unity. Winning is from within. New chapter, same energy.”
