The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to support the Black Stars in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With president-elect John Dramani Mahama preparing to assume office, the incoming government has identified the team’s qualification as a top priority for national pride and unity.

Speaking on the matter, Member of Parliament for New Edubiase, Adams Abdul-Salam, reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to Ghanaian football.

“President-elect Mahama is resolute in ensuring the Black Stars succeed. We will provide all the necessary resources and logistics to secure their place in the 2026 World Cup,” he stated.

The Black Stars have faced challenges in recent years, including failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades.

However, their current World Cup qualification campaign shows promise, with Ghana sitting second in Group I with nine points after four matches.

The NDC has vowed to work closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to address the team’s needs, from training facilities to player welfare.

Additionally, the government plans to mobilize resources and support for the coaching staff to ensure optimal performance during the qualifiers.

With crucial matches against Chad and Madagascar scheduled for March 2026, the NDC government aims to galvanize national support for the Black Stars.

Football fans across Ghana remain optimistic, hoping that the new administration’s backing will reignite the team’s glory on the global stage.

The NDC’s pledge underscores its belief in the power of sports to unite and inspire the nation, signaling a fresh era for Ghanaian football under the Mahama administration.
