NPP holds national delegates conference today

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to hold its highly anticipated National Delegates Conference today, Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.
Over 5,500 delegates from across the country are expected to converge at the conference, which comes at a crucial time for the party as it seeks to regroup and strategize following its loss in the 2024 general elections.
Under the theme “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” the conference is poised to serve as an opportunity for reflection, unity, and a reaffirmation of the party’s core principles.
Joseph Osei Owusu, Chairman of the Planning Committee, shared in an interview with Channel One News that the conference will review and vote on more than 50 consolidated motions. He explained that these motions stem from over 300 proposed amendments submitted to the party’s Amendments Committee.
“We have about 50 consolidated motions. Some of them may involve multiple proposed amendments, but they are grouped into these 50 motions, which the delegates will vote on,” Osei Owusu noted.
He further revealed that these motions have been compiled into a booklet, which has already been reviewed by the party’s National Executive Committee. The booklets will be distributed to delegates prior to the voting.
“We expect to conclude by 4 PM, after all motions have been considered,” he added.
The outcomes of the conference are expected to shape the NPP’s constitutional framework and strategic direction as it prepares for future political battles.
