The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for its 2026 presidential primaries, with the application process set to close on August 28, 2025.

Aspirants seeking to contest in the primaries are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of GHS 100,000.

NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong made the announcement on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, confirming that the primaries will take place on January 31, 2026.

In a related development, Frimpong also addressed the ongoing chieftaincy disputes in Bawku, urging the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to politicise the situation. He condemned attempts to blame the NPP for the violence in the region, describing such claims as “irresponsible” and politically motivated ahead of the 2024 general elections.
