One person has died and several others sustained injuries after a cargo truck transporting passengers and goods from Gbandri Market plunged into a broken bridge between Jimbale and Wawa in the Yonyoo Nasuwani District of the North East Region.

The accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fall into the damaged structure.

Eyewitness Nicholas told reporters that the bridge has remained unrepaired for nearly four years, calling it a “death trap” that authorities have failed to address.

The deceased has been taken to Bunkpurugu Hospital, where those injured are also receiving medical treatment.

Residents are urging government authorities to repair the bridge promptly to prevent further accidents in the area.
