Port City FC signs Samuel Gyimah ahead of Ghana Premier League debut

Newly-promoted Ghana Premier League side Port City FC have strengthened their squad with the signing of experienced defender Samuel Gyimah as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 season.
The 25-year-old centre-back joins the Royals after previous spells with Accra Lions and Attram De Visser, bringing top-flight experience to a side gearing up for its maiden campaign in the Ghana Premier League.
Known for his commanding aerial presence, physical strength and composed defending, Gyimah is expected to play a key role in Port City’s backline as the club looks to establish itself among Ghana’s elite.
Confirming the transfer, the club said: “We are delighted to announce the signing of centre-back Samuel Gyimah, formerly of Accra Lions and Attram De Visser, as we strengthen our squad for the season ahead. Welcome to the Royals.”
Gyimah arrives with valuable Premier League experience, having been part of the Accra Lions team that finished runners-up in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
Port City have been active in the transfer market ahead of their historic top-flight debut, with Daniel Amissah and Elliot Afotey also joining the club as part of an ambitious recruitment drive.
Meanwhile, the club has confirmed its withdrawal from the Division One Super League, citing “circumstances beyond our control.” No further details have been provided regarding the decision.
With several new additions already through the door, Port City are hoping their squad reinforcement will provide a solid platform as they prepare for the challenges of life in the Ghana Premier League.
