Former Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour took a moment in an interview to reflect on a tragic moment in his life and recalls the overwhelming support he got from his team at the time, Bayern Munich.

In early 2003, the defender lost his 15-month old daughter who drowned in his East Legon home swimming pool.

Kuffour recalls being devastated when he heard the news at his base in Germany, he remembers the visit from Bayern club president Uli Hoeness and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who came to his house to console him.

They organized a private jet within two hours to fly him to Ghana to be with his loved ones at that difficult time.

‘That tells you they care about you, it tells you that these people are there for you ” he said.

He also revealed the private jet not only brought him to Ghana but stayed until he finished everything before taking him back to Germany.

Love or hate Bayern, but you can’t deny the absolute humanity and compassion they showed towards one of their own when he needed it the most.
