The Government of Ghana has announced that a state funeral will be held in honour of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.

The event, which will take place under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama, is intended to recognise Mrs. Rawlings’ immense contributions to women’s empowerment, child welfare, and national development.

In a statement issued on Thursday, November 6, the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the ceremony would celebrate Mrs. Rawlings’ lifelong commitment to public service and gender advocacy.

Mrs. Rawlings, founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and a prominent advocate for gender equality, passed away on October 23, 2025.

The family has invited the public to submit tributes in her memory ahead of the funeral.
