Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu Agyeman, has expressed optimism that the party’s ongoing constitutional review will lead to reforms that will drive its future growth and success.

Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Owusu Agyeman described the constitutional review process as a critical step to ensure the party remains adaptive to the changing political landscape.

“I believe that this conference will, in the final analysis, bring out a constitution that will be good for our development as we go forward,” he stated.

He encouraged party members to approach the review with an open mindset, stressing that reforms are essential for any institution’s continued evolution.

“I do not think there should be any problem at all. We have to understand that it is a human institution, and it is dynamic, and it goes forward. If there are changes to be made, we make the changes. That is what we want to do as we go forward,” he added.

The 2025 National Delegates Conference, held under the theme “Rebuilding Together with our Values,” marks an important moment of reflection for the NPP, especially in the wake of its loss in the 2024 general elections.

A major highlight of the conference is the wide array of proposed constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening party governance, enhancing grassroots mobilisation, and optimising party structures as the NPP prepares for the 2028 elections.
