Thames Valley Police has launched a public appeal to locate Ghanaian national Emmanuel Sakyi after he failed to appear in court, where he was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for causing the death of his seven-month-old daughter through dangerous driving.

According to police, the 31-year-old was convicted following a trial held in his absence at Aylesbury Crown Court after he did not attend the proceedings.

Investigators said the fatal collision occurred on December 4, 2022, in Milton Keynes when Sakyi allegedly drove a grey Peugeot 508 on the wrong side of the road between Bond Avenue and the Fenny Lock roundabouts before crashing head-on into a green Fiat 500.

Police said Sakyi was more than two-and-a-half times the legal drink-driving limit at the time of the collision.

The crash claimed the life of his seven-month-old daughter, Emmanuela. Investigators stated that the infant sustained fatal injuries because she was not properly secured in a suitable child safety seat.

Authorities also alleged that Sakyi fled the scene on foot immediately after the collision.

Following the trial, a jury unanimously found him guilty of causing death by dangerous driving, and the court imposed a 15-year prison sentence. However, he remains on the run after failing to attend court for the proceedings.

Thames Valley Police described Sakyi as a Black man of medium build with black hair and brown eyes, standing approximately 5 feet 3 inches (160 cm) tall.

Police are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Thames Valley Police as investigations continue to locate and arrest him so he can begin serving his sentence.
