Unity must start with those seeking to lead– Eugene Boakye Antwi to NPP

Aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Subin MP, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has urged the party’s presidential aspirants to be measured in their public statements as the NPP works to rebuild unity and cohesion ahead of future elections.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday, October 14, Mr. Boakye Antwi noted that healing the party’s internal divisions must begin with those seeking to lead. He warned that careless or inflammatory remarks could further deepen rifts within the party and undermine its electoral prospects.
“All my political colleagues who are contesting to become flagbearer of the party must also be guided by what they say. They must be measured out there because that is also part of the unity process,” he said.
Mr. Boakye Antwi added that if elected General Secretary, his leadership style would be inclusive and consultative, focused on bringing all factions together and ensuring every member feels represented.
“Unity is very critical. I plan to engage all factions constructively and transparently,” he said.
He cited former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo as examples of leaders who successfully maintained party cohesion while implementing major national reforms.
“[Former] President Kufuor maintained cohesion of the party while implementing major reforms. [Former] President Akufo-Addo also brought together stakeholders for initiatives like 1D1F and Free SHS. I will bring the same consultative approach to the party,” he stated.
Eugene Boakye Antwi expressed confidence that with strong leadership and discipline, the NPP can overcome its internal differences and remain a united, formidable political force ready to serve Ghanaians.
