Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo says the Black Stars proved their commitment to the nation with their spirited performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite their eventual elimination from the tournament.

Speaking to 3Sports, Sibo reflected on Ghana’s hard-fought goalless draw against England, describing it as a moment that demonstrated the team’s determination and pride in representing the country on football’s biggest stage.

“I think we showed Ghanaians that we are willing to give everything for the nation, and we are there to give everything for the nation,” he said.

The midfielder regarded the encounter with England in Boston as one of the defining moments of his career, saying it offered him the opportunity to prove himself against some of the world’s best players.

“It was a big game for me, and it was a big challenge as well. It was the best time to prove myself to the world and to Ghanaians that the responsibility on my shoulders was one I was ready to carry.”

Sibo also reflected on his personal journey, recalling how he once watched many of England’s players on television before earning the chance to compete against them at the World Cup.

“Stepping onto that field was something beautiful because I was playing against players I used to watch on TV before I even travelled. It made me very proud of how far my journey has come.”

The 26-year-old featured in all four of Ghana’s matches at the tournament, playing a total of 249 minutes as the Black Stars advanced from the group stage before suffering a Round of 32 defeat to Colombia.

Following the expiration of his contract with Spanish club Real Oviedo, Sibo is now attracting interest from clubs in the English Premier League, the Saudi Pro League and Greece, with PAOK among the teams reportedly monitoring his situation.
