Medeama in talks to sign Hearts of Oak short stopper Solomon Agbasi

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi is edging closer to a move to Medeama SC, with negotiations between the two parties now at an advanced stage, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
The Ghana international, whose contract with Hearts of Oak is approaching its expiry, has attracted significant interest ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. Medeama have identified the 27-year-old as a key target as they look to strengthen their squad.
Sources have indicated that talks have gathered momentum in recent days, with both Agbasi and the Tarkwa-based club keen to reach an agreement. While the deal has not yet been finalised, there is growing confidence that a transfer could be completed if negotiations continue to progress positively.
Agbasi was included in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the Black Stars’ standby goalkeeper, further enhancing his reputation as one of the country’s most reliable shot-stoppers.
Medeama are eager to bolster their goalkeeping options as they prepare for another demanding campaign, which includes domestic competition and continental football. Club officials believe Agbasi’s experience, leadership and consistency would add quality and healthy competition within the squad.
The goalkeeper has earned widespread praise during his time with Hearts of Oak for his sharp reflexes, commanding presence in the penalty area and ability to deliver under pressure. Those performances have made him one of the most sought-after goalkeepers on the local transfer market.
Although discussions are at an advanced stage, no agreement has yet been signed, with a few details still to be resolved before the transfer can be completed.
For now, Medeama remain optimistic that they can secure Agbasi’s signature, while the player is understood to be receptive to the prospect of beginning a new chapter of his career in Tarkwa.
