We need ‘luck’ and quality against Ghana – Colombia coach Nestor Lorenzo

Colombia head coach Nestor Lorenzo says his side will need more than a strong performance to overcome Ghana in Saturday’s World Cup Round of 32 tie.
The South American side face the Black Stars for a place in the last 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the match scheduled to kick off at 01:30 GMT on 4 July.
Lorenzo said Ghana’s tactical approach remains unclear, with Colombia preparing for several possible scenarios.
“I don’t know if Ghana will present a low block,” he said in a pre-match interview. “Maybe they want to surprise us or come out and attack with everything.”
The Colombia coach believes the tournament has shown how little separates the teams still competing.
“The feeling is that the competition is incredibly even and that it is there for anyone to win,” Lorenzo added.
“Besides playing well, you need that little bit of effectiveness and luck.”
Ghana will be aiming to continue their World Cup campaign with a place in the last 16, while Colombia are looking to turn their preparations into a decisive result in one of Saturday’s knockout matches.
