2026 World Cup: Black Stars can reach Semi-finals – Goalkeeper Paul Reverson

Black Stars goalkeeper Paul Reverson believes Ghana have what it takes to make a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the four-time African champions are capable of reaching the semi-finals, and possibly beyond.
Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the global showpiece, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia, setting up a challenging path to the knockout stages.
Despite Ghana’s disappointing group-stage exits at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2022 tournament in Qatar, Reverson remains optimistic about the team’s prospects.
The highly-rated Ajax goalkeeping prospect, who was included in Ghana’s 28-man provisional squad but missed out on the final selection, believes the current squad has the quality to create history.
“I think Ghana can reach the semi-finals and even further,” Reverson told 3Sports.
His confidence comes as expectations continue to build around the Black Stars ahead of the tournament, where they will be aiming to surpass their historic quarter-final finish at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Ghana begin their 2026 World Cup campaign against Panama on 17 June at BMO Field before facing England at Gillette Stadium on 23 June.
Their final group match will be against Croatia on 27 June, with hopes of securing a place in the knockout rounds and launching a memorable World Cup journey.
The 2026 tournament will be the largest in FIFA World Cup history, featuring 48 teams competing across three host nations.
