Mahama: Corruption crackdown will target all, not just past regimes

President John Mahama says that his administration’s renewed drive against corruption is not targeted at any individual but is aimed at promoting accountability across all levels of government.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the Christian Council of Ghana at Jubilee House on Tuesday, November 18, the President underlined his commitment to tackling corruption decisively and without favoritism.
“We’re going to take corruption fight to a whole new level. And it’s not anything personal against anybody. Our problem with the fight against corruption is that it’s always post-regime corruption that we fight,” he said.
President Mahama revealed that he has already warned his ministers that the same standards applied in prosecuting cases involving the previous government will also apply to officials in his administration.
“I have served notice to my ministers that the prosecutions we’re taking against the previous government, woe betides the first person who brings a scandal to this government. We shall hang them on a cross. And you will follow our Lord Jesus Christ and will not resurrect again. We must deal with the corruption that has taken place,” he said.
The government is currently handling multiple corruption-related cases involving former administration officials.
President Mahama assured the Christian Council that his administration remains committed to promoting integrity and strengthening the institutions tasked with combating corruption.
