Fiorentina terminates Tariq Lamptey’s contract

Tariq Lamptey and Italian side ACF Fiorentina have mutually agreed to terminate the defender’s contract following a frustrating period heavily disrupted by injury.
The Serie A club confirmed the decision on its official website, bringing an early end to Lamptey’s short-lived stay in Florence just months after his arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 25-year-old right-back joined Fiorentina on 1 September 2025 in a deal reportedly worth €3 million, but his time in Italy never truly got off the ground. Lamptey managed only two appearances, playing a total of 26 minutes before suffering a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him for most of the campaign.
Once regarded as one of Ghana’s brightest defensive talents, Lamptey’s latest setback adds to a difficult run of injuries that have interrupted his progress in recent years.
The contract termination was reached by mutual consent, allowing the Ghana international to become a free agent as he focuses on recovery and rebuilding his career.
Lamptey, known for his explosive pace and attacking ability from the right flank, remains highly respected among Ghanaian supporters, many of whom have taken to social media to wish him well during his rehabilitation.
Despite the disappointing spell at Fiorentina, there is hope the former Chelsea academy graduate can rediscover his form and fitness ahead of the next chapter in his career.
