Former Leicester City defender Conor Coady says Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has the talent and mentality to succeed in the English Premier League despite Leicester City’s disappointing relegation campaign.

The Black Stars winger endured a difficult season with the Foxes, who suffered back-to-back relegations after dropping into League One just a year after returning to the top flight.

Yet amid the club’s struggles, Issahaku remained one of Leicester’s brightest attacking threats. The 21-year-old contributed 16 goals during the club’s Championship campaign and was widely praised for his creativity, pace and direct style of play.

Issahaku had previously played a crucial role in helping Leicester secure promotion to the Premier League under former manager Enzo Maresca. However, his momentum was disrupted after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which sidelined him for much of the second half of the season.

Despite the setback, Coady believes the Ghanaian winger has what it takes to make an impact at the highest level.

“Fatawu at Leicester,” Coady said on The Overlap when asked to name Championship players capable of thriving in the Premier League.

“I know Leicester have gone down and I know he’s had a bad second half of the season, but I played with Abdul and he’s a very good player on his day.

“I know he was linked with certain clubs previously, so I would put him in that bracket,” he added.

Issahaku’s performances have reportedly attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with scouts continuing to monitor his recovery and long-term potential.

The Ghana international is currently focused on preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup before making a decision on his future at Leicester City.

For many Ghanaian supporters, the winger remains one of the country’s most exciting young talents, and his next move could prove decisive in shaping the next stage of his career.
