Dutch side NAC Breda have decided not to extend the contracts of Ghana internationals André Ayew and Denis Odoi following the club’s relegation from the Eredivisie.

The decision comes after a disappointing season in which NAC Breda finished 17th in the 18-team Dutch top-flight table, confirming an immediate return to the second division.

Both players joined the club during the 2025-26 campaign in a bid to help stabilize the side. Odoi arrived in November 2025, bringing defensive experience and leadership, while Ayew signed in January 2026 as a free agent after several months without a club.

Despite flashes of quality and experience from the Ghanaian duo, NAC Breda struggled for consistency throughout the season.

Odoi made 19 appearances for the club and became a regular figure in defence during a difficult run of results. Ayew, meanwhile, featured 16 times and scored once after joining midway through the campaign.

Their efforts, however, were not enough to prevent relegation, with the club ultimately deciding against activating options to keep the pair for another season.

The move signals the end of what proved to be brief spells in the Netherlands for both players, as NAC Breda prepare for a squad rebuild ahead of life in the second tier.

Ayew and Odoi remain respected figures within Ghanaian football and were both members of the Black Stars squad that represented the country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ayew, Ghana’s former captain and one of the country’s most experienced internationals, is still reportedly being considered for a possible return to the national team setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
