Ghana’s U-17 coach Prosper Narteh Ogum says his side is fully prepared for a decisive showdown against Senegal national under-17 football team as the Black Starlets seek their first win at the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Starlets face Senegal on Sunday in a crucial Group D encounter after opening their campaign with a dramatic 2-2 draw against Algeria national under-17 football team.

Speaking after the team’s final training session in Rabat, Ogum expressed confidence in the condition and mindset of his players ahead of the high-stakes clash.

“The boys are in good condition, and we are happy there are no injury concerns in camp. Everybody trained very well, and the focus is fully on the Senegal game,” he said.

The former Asante Kotoko SC coach acknowledged the quality and pedigree of the Senegalese side but insisted Ghana would approach the game with belief and determination.

“Senegal is a very good team, and we respect them because they have shown quality over the years at this level,” Ogum said. “But we also believe strongly in ourselves and what we can do as a team.”

With qualification hopes hanging in the balance, Ogum stressed the importance of securing all three points.

“We are going into the game targeting a win. The players understand the importance of the match, and they are ready to give everything on the pitch. I am convinced the boys will live up to expectations,” he added.

Ghana’s technical team has spent the past few days analysing their performance against Algeria, with particular focus on improving finishing, transitions and defensive organisation before facing the defending champions.

The Black Starlets will now hope to turn promise into victory as they continue their quest for continental success in Morocco.
