Ghanaian midfielder Richmond Darko has signed a contract extension with Thai side Chonburi FC ahead of the 2026/27 season after a string of impressive performances in the second half of the campaign.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder, who joined the “Sharks” midway through the 2025/26 season, quickly became one of the club’s most reliable figures in midfield.

Darko made an immediate impact with his calm presence on the ball, strong tackling ability and tactical awareness, earning the trust of the club’s technical team and supporters alike.

He featured in 14 matches across all competitions, clocking 1,089 minutes as he helped bring stability and balance to Chonburi’s midfield setup during a crucial stage of the season.

In a statement confirming the extension, Chonburi praised the Ghanaian’s influence within the squad and highlighted his importance to the plans of head coach Rangsarn Vivatvichaiyok ahead of the new campaign.

Club officials believe the former Ghana youth prospect will continue to play a leading role as the team prepares for the upcoming Thai League season.

Darko’s contract renewal is seen as a significant boost for Chonburi as the club seeks to strengthen its squad and mount a strong challenge in the 2026/27 campaign.

The midfielder is expected to remain a key figure in the heart of the Sharks’ engine room as preparations intensify for the new season.
