ECG Restores Power to Tanyigbe SHS After Days of Darkness

Students and staff of Tanyigbe Senior High School can now breathe a sigh of relief after electricity was restored to the school following several days of blackout that disrupted academic work and exam preparations.
The power outage began on May 22 when a heavy rainstorm brought down a tree onto an electricity pole supplying the school, cutting off electricity across the campus.
The situation severely affected daily activities, especially for final-year students preparing for the 2026 WASSCE.
During the blackout, many students were forced to rely on flashlights and other makeshift lighting methods to study at night, while the school’s ICT laboratory remained unusable due to the lack of power.

After concerns about the situation gained public attention, officials from the Electricity Company of Ghana in the Volta Region intervened and successfully repaired the damaged infrastructure to reconnect the school to the national grid.
School authorities have since expressed gratitude to ECG and everyone who supported efforts to resolve the challenge. Management says academic work has now returned to normal, bringing relief to both teachers and students, particularly candidates preparing for their examinations.
The school also appealed for continued assistance to help improve infrastructure and learning conditions for students drawn from surrounding farming communities within the Ho Municipality.
