Abdul Fatawu Safiu re-joins Asante Kotoko

Attacker Abdul Fatawu Safiu has officially signed a contract with Asante Kotoko, securing his presence until January 2026 on a free transfer.
The prolific player, named the best player and top scorer of the Normalisation Committee special competition in 2019, is making a return to the club after stints with Trelleborgs FF and FC Trollhättan in Sweden.
Fatawu Safiu, who initially played for Kotoko during the 2018-2019 season, expressed his excitement about the opportunity.
In that season, he made a significant impact, scoring 13 goals in sixteen appearances, with notable performances in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The return of Fatawu Safiu aligns with Coach Prosper Narteh’s aspirations of leading Kotoko back to the CAF Champions League.
In an interview with the club’s website, Safiu stated, “I am very excited about this opportunity. Everyone knows Kotoko is the club that I support, and as a youngster, it was my dream to play for Kotoko. To get that opportunity twice makes me feel lucky and ready to do everything to help the team.”
This strategic move is part of Kotoko’s efforts to strengthen the squad for success in both domestic and continental competitions.
As Safiu rejoins his boyhood club, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing his impact on the team’s pursuit of excellence.
