Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has completed a remarkable rise in world football after helping Manchester City secure a historic domestic cup double in what has become the defining season of his career.

The 25-year-old Black Stars attacker began the 2025/26 campaign at AFC Bournemouth, where his explosive form quickly attracted attention from Europe’s elite clubs. In January, Premier League giants Manchester City completed a blockbuster move to sign the Ghanaian international in a deal widely regarded as one of the transfers of the season.

Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, Semenyo has flourished under manager Pep Guardiola, becoming one of City’s most decisive attacking players during the second half of the campaign.

The forward ended the season with 16 Premier League goals and four assists, earning a nomination for the league’s prestigious Player of the Season award.

However, his most memorable moment came on the grandest stage.

With the FA Cup final against Chelsea F.C. finely balanced, Semenyo produced a moment of brilliance in the 72nd minute, a stunning backheel finish that sealed victory for Manchester City and sent fans into celebration at Wembley Stadium.

The goal capped off a dream campaign for the Ghanaian star, who also helped City lift the EFL Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

The two trophies mark the first major domestic cup double of Semenyo’s career and further cement his growing status as one of Ghana’s brightest football talents on the global stage.

For many supporters back home, the season represents more than silverware, it is another proud chapter for Ghanaian football and a sign that Semenyo has reached a new level among Europe’s elite players.
