Arsenal beat Sunderland to top Premier League

Arsenal FC travelled to the Stadium of Light to play Sunderland and picked all three points. This win sends them straight to the top of the table. Nevertheless, a convincing win from Liverpool or Tottenham or a win by Man City could push them down.

Alexis Sanchez kicked off the party in the 19th minute with a header which came about through some good old fashioned wing play by Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right.

It seemed as though the party was about to end when Jermain Defoe equalized with a penalty. “We missed so many chances, so many opportunities and I was worried we could lose” Arsene Wenger said in his post-match interview.

However, Arsene Wenger’s men showed class as Olivier Giroud put the team back in front with two goals in the space of five minutes. Alexis Sanchez wrapped it all up with his second in the 74th minute. This is Arsenal’s seventh win this season and haven’t recorded any defeat since Liverpool in their opening game.

The Gunners travel to the White Hart Lane next Sunday to play Tottenham.
