Black Stars is not like parliament – Cudjoe Fianoo on local players snub

The President of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Cudjoe Fianoo has shot down any criticism over the no inclusion of any local player in Chris Hughton’s first call-up.
New Black Stars coach Chris Hughton made his first call-up for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Angola and here was no local player in his squad.
A section of Ghanaians have questioned why there was no local player despite the Ghana Premier League ongoing.
According to the GHALCA President, the Black Stars is not like parliament or the national assembly where every constituency needs a representative.
“I’m not cutting you (questioner) short but football is not parliament that every constituency must be represented,” he said as quoted by footballghana.com.
“Let’s leave the coach to pick players that can deliver. If the player is a local player, fine. If the player is not a local player, we want people who will wear the Black Stars jersey and bring us joy.
“If the colour is white, green or whatever, we want Ghanaians to play for the Black Stars and take us to where we want to get to.”
