The Black Stars of Ghana are guaranteed at least $13.5 million in FIFA prize money after progressing to the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana secured a place in the tournament’s first knockout round after finishing third in Group L with four points from three matches, ensuring the four-time African champions remain in contention for the biggest prize in world football.

FIFA has allocated a record $871 million in team payments for the expanded 2026 World Cup. The package includes $655 million in performance-based prize money, $120 million in preparation funding for participating nations, with the remainder covering additional support costs.

Each of the 48 participating teams receives $2.5 million in preparation funding before the tournament begins. Nations eliminated in the group stage earn $10 million in performance payments, taking their total earnings to at least $12.5 million.

By advancing to the Round of 32, Ghana has increased its guaranteed earnings to $13.5 million, comprising the preparation grant and $11 million in prize money for reaching the first knockout stage.

The financial rewards continue to rise with every round of the competition. Teams that qualify for the Round of 16 will earn $15 million, while quarter-finalists receive $19 million. The fourth-placed team will take home $27 million, third place earns $29 million, the runners-up receive $33 million, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup champions will pocket $50 million in prize money, excluding preparation funding.

Meanwhile, Ghana will face Colombia in the Round of 32 on Saturday, 4 July, at Kansas City Stadium, with a place in the last 16 at stake.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the first edition to feature 48 teams, introducing a new Round of 32 knockout phase and an additional prize-money tier for nations advancing beyond the group stage.
