Car Dealer Shot Dead Outside Home at Tuba, Wife Hospitalised

A 50-year-old car dealer has been shot dead and his wife left critically injured after an unidentified gunman opened fire on the couple outside their residence at Beach Drive Estate near Tuba in the Ga South Municipality.
The attack occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, as Kwesi Rahman and his wife returned home from an evening walk.
According to eyewitness accounts, the couple had just reached the entrance of their residence when the assailant suddenly appeared and fired several shots at them before fleeing the scene.
Rahman sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. His wife was also hit several times and was rushed to a nearby hospital by residents who responded after hearing the gunfire. Her identity and the name of the facility where she is receiving treatment have not been disclosed.
An eyewitness, Faustina Antwi, revealed that Rahman’s remains had been deposited at the police morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Another resident described the moments after the shooting, saying the gunfire prompted people to rush out of their homes.
“I was outside around 9:50 when I heard what sounded like a gunshot. So I quickly went inside and told my mum that I had heard gunshots. When we came out, we saw people coming from down there. When I got there, I saw him lying in front of his gate. I didn’t see anybody and I didn’t hear any noise. It was just the gunshot I heard,” the resident recounted.
The incident has sparked fear among residents of Beach Drive Estate, with some calling for increased police patrols and improved security within the community.
A relative of the deceased has also appealed to the Ghana Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.
Police have commenced investigations and are working to establish the identity of the attacker and the motive behind the shooting.
Rahman, who celebrated his 50th birthday in July, was known in the community as a car dealer. Authorities are yet to determine whether the attack was targeted or linked to any particular motive.
