Ghanaian defender David Acquah continued his impressive scoring form by netting for the second consecutive league game as FC Aarau played out a 2-2 draw against Yverdon-Sport FC in the Swiss Challenge League.

Acquah opened the scoring with a confident finish to give Aarau an early advantage in an entertaining contest that eventually ended level.

The goal marks another strong attacking contribution from the Ghanaian centre-back, who has now registered three goals and one assist this season, an impressive return for a defender.

Fellow Ghanaian Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was introduced from the bench and played the final 18 minutes of the encounter as Aarau pushed for a late winner.

Barnieh, who has enjoyed a productive campaign in Switzerland, continues to be one of the club’s key attacking players with 12 goals and seven assists so far this season.

The performances of both players will be encouraging for Ghanaian football followers as the Black Stars continue monitoring players abroad ahead of upcoming international assignments and preparations toward the FIFA World Cup.

While Aarau were unable to hold onto their lead, the contributions from Acquah and Barnieh once again underlined the growing influence of Ghanaian talent in European football.
