The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has cautioned the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, against involving himself in chieftaincy and land disputes in the region.

According to the Asantehene, such matters fall outside the mandate of the Police Service and are under his authority as the traditional leader of Asanteman. He stated that any chief who approaches the Police Commander with land-related issues should be referred to him for intervention.

He instructed the DCOP to report any ongoing land dispute attention for appropriate action.

The monarch also urged DCOP Akoto to focus on tackling theft and other social vices to maintain peace and security in the Ashanti Region.

His guidance was given during a courtesy call by the new Police Commander at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

The outgoing Regional Police Commander, Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for his guidance and blessings during his tenure before introducing DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto as his successor.

Also present during the visit were CP Francis Kouame Somian, Deputy Regional Commander; Chief Supt Frederick Hammond, Manhyia Divisional Commander; and DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Ashanti Regional PRO, among others.
