Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has denied reports that he has been summoned by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for questioning over an alleged GH¢4 million bribe.

Mr. Kotey clarified that, contrary to reports, he has not received any formal invitation or summons from the OSP.

In a Facebook post he said, “Please disregard the fake news. I have not been invited by the OSP.”

This follows earlier statements from the OSP indicating that the office was engaging the DVLA boss for further information after he publicly claimed to have rejected a bribe allegedly offered to halt the rollout of the Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.

In a recent interview, Mr. Kotey disclosed that certain influential individuals had attempted to pressure him to abandon the digital registration initiative, which seeks to curb vehicle-related fraud and enhance road safety.

The OSP had said it was seeking details to verify the allegation and identify those involved in the purported bribery attempt.
