Robert Lewandowski did not finish as the top marksman in Europe's big five domestic leagues this season, but was top scorer in UEFA's club competitions with 15 goals, as well as a treble winner.
The Polish striker did not score in Bayern's 1-0 UEFA Champions League final win against Paris, but still finished top of the European rankings, becoming the first player to deny Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi top spot since 2006/07 (the only slight exception being 2014/15, when they shared the podium with Neymar after all three finished with ten goals).
This season, Ronaldo scored four before his Juventus side were eliminated in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, while Messi hit three prior to Barcelona's quarter-final loss against Lewandowski's Bayern.
Lazio's Ciro Immobile was top scorer in Europe's most competitive domestic leagues with 36 in Serie A.
