Fifi Kwetey warns NDC members against shielding former corrupt gov’t appointees

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has raised concerns about attempts within the party to interfere in corruption cases.

Speaking at the 5th Annual General Conference of NDC lawyers, Mr. Kwetey alleged that certain members were seeking to strike deals with individuals under investigation by the state, a development he described as deeply worrying.

“Even as calls grow for accountability and justice, some within our own ranks are busy trying to negotiate soft landings for people who ought to face prosecution,” he cautioned.

“A few have even positioned themselves as channels through which pressure is mounted on those tasked to enforce the law.”

While he refrained from naming those involved, the NDC chief scribe hinted that identities could be revealed in the future if the trend persists.

His warning comes as the NDC intensifies its Operation Recover All Loots initiative, aimed at retrieving state resources allegedly lost to corruption and prosecuting offenders.

Several investigations into former government officials are said to be ongoing.

Mr. Kwetey underscored that the party’s reputation—and ultimately its electoral prospects—depend on an uncompromising fight against graft. “Ghanaians are demanding integrity. We cannot afford to falter,” he stressed.

Directing his remarks to the Attorney General and his team, he urged them to resist political pressure. “Remain resolute and firm in your work.

If you bow to undue influence, you will bear the blame,” he said, warning that those trying to shield corrupt actors today may later accuse the Attorney General of failing in his duty.
