Defender Patrick Asmah is to join Ghana Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko ahead of the 2020-21 Ghanaian top flight campaign.

According to local media reports, the Porcupine Warriors are set to announce the acquisition of the former Ghana U-20 star on a free transfer in the coming days.

The 24-year-old’s representatives are reported to be in advanced talks with officials of Asante Kotoko following the expiration of his contract with Italian Serie A side Atalanta.
Asmah is currently unattached after ending his four-year stint with the Italian outfit at the end of May this year.
The highly rated left back could not break into the first team of Atalanta after his acquisition from Ghanaian second-tier club B.A United in 2016.
The Ghanaian star, who can operate as a defensive midfielder was farmed out to Avellino, Salernitana and Slovakian Fortuna Liga club FK Senica.
He was released by Atalanta BC after his loan spell at FK Senica, where he scored three times with five assists in 25 matches.
Asmah was a member of the Ghana U20 that played at the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015.
