GFA delegation visits KGL Foundation
A significant event unfolded today as a high-level delegation from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), led by President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, alongside the national Under-17 squad (Black Starlets), paid a courtesy visit to the KGL Foundation, sponsors of the KGL U17 Inter Regional Football Championships.
This visit symbolized the fruitful partnership between the GFA and the KGL Foundation, which has spanned over three years.
The occasion was particularly meaningful as it included the presence of five Black Starlets players who had emerged from the KGL Under17 Inter-regional Tournament.
The delegation received a warm welcome from Elliott Dadey, CEO of the KGL Foundation, who expressed the foundation’s joy in hosting the GFA and the Black Starlets.
Dadey highlighted the foundation’s commitment to youth development in Ghana and emphasized the special place Ghanaian football holds in their hearts.
President Simeon-Okraku reciprocated the appreciation, acknowledging the foundation’s pivotal role in Colts Football development.
He commended the foundation for its courage in sponsoring the KGL Under-17 National Championship during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This championship later evolved into the KGL U17 Inter Regional Football Championships, where standout players like Benjamin Tsivanyo, the Black Starlets’ captain, emerged.
President Simeon-Okraku also underscored the synergy between the partnership with the KGL Foundation and the formation of new age category national teams within the GFA, highlighting the potential for players from the KGL championships to feed into these teams.
A surprise appearance by Ghana’s legendary Abdul Razak added to the significance of the visit, further highlighting the rich football heritage of Ghana.
Captain Benjamin Tsivanyo expressed gratitude on behalf of the Black Starlets and introduced his team to the KGL Foundation’s management and staff.
In appreciation for the support received, the GFA President presented an autographed Black Stars Jersey to the CEO of the KGL Foundation, while the five player products of the KGL National U17 Championships presented an autographed KGL Jersey to Mr. Elliott Dadey.
The visit concluded with photo sessions capturing the memorable moments shared between representatives of the KGL Foundation, members of the GFA delegation, and the Black Starlets’ technical team.
This partnership between the KGL Foundation and the Ghana Football Association signifies a significant step towards fostering football development in Ghana, with promising prospects for future collaboration and mutual growth.
