Ghana begins training ahead of Mexico Friendly

Ghana’s national football team have begun training in Puebla, Mexico, as the Black Stars intensify preparations for their international friendly against Mexico on Friday ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The squad arrived in North America on Sunday for the high-profile pre-tournament fixture, which forms part of Ghana’s build-up to the World Cup scheduled to begin in June 2026.
The tournament will be co-hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz and his technical team are expected to use the friendly as a key assessment opportunity before naming Ghana’s final squad for the tournament.
Training sessions are continuing in Puebla throughout Wednesday and Thursday, with players aiming to impress ahead of the crucial encounter against one of the World Cup hosts.
The match is also expected to provide a platform for emerging talents and fringe players seeking places in both the Black Stars squad and Ghana’s Olympic side, the Black Meteors.
Ghana view the fixture as an important test of readiness as preparations gather pace for what will be the country’s latest appearance on football’s biggest stage.
