Ghanaian youth star Najeeb Yakubu was sent off in FC Vorskla Poltava away win over Olimpik Donetsk in the Ukrainian Premier League on Sunday.
The young versatile defender received his marching orders in the dying embers of his side’s 1-0 triumph over Olimpik Donetsk at the Dynamo Stadium.
The 20-year-old was at usual best for the Green and White lads as they extended their unbeaten run to six matches.
However, his sterling displays came to an unfortunate end when he received a straight red card for a horrible tackle in the final moments of the game.
The sending off means that, Yakubu will joe miss Vorskla’s next game after featuring in the club’s opening six games of the season.
Having joined the Oleksiy Butovsky Vorskla Stadium outfit in the summer of 2017, the Ghanaian youth international established himself as a regular in the club in the past two seasons.
His impeccable form for the club forced Vorskla to tie him to a new 4-year deal a fortnight ago and is now contracted to the Ukrainian outfit until the summer of 2024.
Yakubu was a member of the Ghana U17 squad that represented the West African nation at the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup staged in India.
