The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has repatriated 55 undocumented foreign nationals after a series of intelligence-led operations in Tamale.

In a statement signed by ACI Michael Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, GIS disclosed that the individuals— all Burkinabes—were victims of suspected fraudulent network marketing schemes and were found without proper immigration documents.

The operations were carried out under the directive of Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, who recently instructed all Regional and Border Commands to intensify crackdowns on cyber fraud and immigration-related offences.

According to the Service, one swoop led to the arrest of 38 Burkinabes allegedly linked to a scheme known as NEOLIFE. Investigations revealed that none of them possessed valid travel documents.

In a separate raid, another 17 Burkinabes were picked up in a different suburb of Tamale for their involvement in the QNET scheme. They also lacked the required immigration papers.

The statement confirmed that all 55 individuals have since been repatriated.

“The Ghana Immigration Service remains committed to safeguarding the country’s borders while ensuring that foreign nationals are treated humanely and in accordance with the law,” the statement assured.
