The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has credited swift intervention by its personnel with limiting the destruction of a 13-bedroom residential building at Wassa Kwabeng, preventing what could have been a far more catastrophic loss.

The Asankrangwa Fire Station received an emergency call on Friday, May 8, 2026, at approximately 1:16 p.m. and promptly dispatched a response team to the scene.

The crew, under the command of ADOII Sylvester Appiah Kubi, arrived at the property at 1:35 p.m. to find the building fully consumed by flames.

Firefighters immediately deployed targeted cooling techniques to bring the fire under control and stop it from advancing further through the structure.

Their efforts proved effective — the blaze was subdued by 1:48 p.m. and fully extinguished by 2:09 p.m., less than an hour after the distress call was received.

While five bedrooms and their contents were lost to the inferno, the timely response of the firefighting team made it possible to preserve eight rooms along with the belongings inside them.

The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed, and no casualties were reported in connection with the incident.

Charred, waterlogged room with scattered burnt debris, a broken metal grate, and a window on the left.
