GPL: Mohammed Hussein issues public apology after Super Clash incident
Hearts of Oak midfielder Mohammed Hussein has issued a public apology for his conduct toward referee Reginald Collins Amoah following the club’s 1–0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Week 9 Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In a heartfelt statement posted on Facebook, Hussein admitted his actions were unacceptable, expressing remorse to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the referee, teammates, supporters, and the wider football community.
“With a heavy heart, I sincerely apologise… What happened after the final whistle was unacceptable, and I take full responsibility for my behaviour.” he wrote.
Emotional Reflection and Commitment to Growth
Hussein acknowledged that frustration during the match clouded his judgment, leading to a reaction he now deeply regrets.
“Instead of showing restraint and respect, I reacted wrongly and I regret it deeply.”
He pledged to learn from the incident and reaffirm his commitment to professionalism and discipline:
“I am committed to making amends and proving, through my conduct going forward, that I have learned from this mistake.”
