Ghana forward Inaki Williams ended the 2025/26 La Liga campaign with a strong individual display despite Athletic Bilbao suffering a 4-2 defeat away to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Williams provided both assists for Bilbao in an entertaining encounter on the final day of the season, offering a bright finish to what has otherwise been a difficult campaign for the Ghana international.

The Spain-born forward, who captained his boyhood club throughout the season, managed just three league goals and six assists as Bilbao struggled for consistency after returning to the UEFA Champions League.

Bilbao eventually finished 12th in La Liga, a disappointing outcome for a side that had hoped to build on last season’s success.

Following the campaign, Williams issued an emotional message to supporters on social media, apologising for the team’s performances and promising the club would regroup ahead of next season.

At the Bernabeu, Real Madrid took control early when Gonzalo Garcia opened the scoring before Jude Bellingham doubled the hosts’ advantage five minutes before half-time.

Williams responded moments later with a clever pass to Gorka Guruzeta, who pulled one back for the visitors just before the break.

The home side restored their dominance in the second half as Kylian Mbappe added a third goal before Brahim Diaz struck late to put the result beyond doubt.

Williams, however, continued to threaten and set up Urko Izeta in stoppage time to complete Bilbao’s scoring and cap his season with a memorable individual performance despite the defeat.
