Karela United, a Ghana Premier League club, has been hit with a significant financial penalty by the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Player Status Committee and Ethics Committee.

The GFA’s Ethics Committee has ruled that the club must pay their former player, Aziz Dogo, a staggering GHC240,000.00.

This sum includes unpaid salaries, compensation for wrongful termination, and compensation for the club’s failure to provide for the player while he was injured.

Karela United has been granted a 14-day grace period to fulfill this financial obligation to their former player, failing which they will incur the GFA’s sanctions.

Aziz Dogo, who had previously played for Phar Rangers, Dreams FC, and Wa Suntaa, suffered an injury while playing for Karela in 2021.

Despite his injury, the club did not provide for his medical expenses or rehabilitation.

Ultimately, the club terminated his contract, leaving him with unpaid salaries and unaddressed medical bills.

Following Dogo’s complaint, the GFA has intervened, mandating Karela United to settle both the player’s medical expenses and salary arrears due him.
